PORTE DE VANVES
History
Located at the 14th arrondissement. Originally opened on January 21st, 1937 as part of the old line 14, which was later eliminated and joined to be part of line 13 in 1976. Until the extension to Chatillon-Montrouge on November 9th, 1976; this stop was the southernmost point of line 13. Its name stems from a gates name in the nineteenth century that led to a town called Vanves.
First Impression
- Tram stop nearby
- Very quiet and isolated
- Park where children can play
- Lots of residential buildings
Reflection
Surprisingly, this was the first and the only stop in which I was able to see a park with swings and other things to amuse kids. I never stopped and think about this before, but Paris seems to be a very pet friendly city; however, I do not think is very child friendly. This being the first and only stop in which I see a neighborhood that has a park in which the kids can play. Paris has a lot of parks, however not many with the purpose of being a playground for kids. Parks in Paris are known to be meeting places for adults, so they can chat, eat, kiss, or do other activities. It is curious but true, that Paris doesn’t seem the best city to raise your kid, however it seems the perfect city to grow up from teenager to adult, and maybe even meet your significant other while chatting on a park.
